How to Repair a Television Stand
I thought I should talk to you about actually reparing your television stand. Obviously going out and buying a new one can be quite expensive. It is a lot easier than you think to repair it. There are some simple methods that you can follow that will help make it look like new in no time. Broken Glass If you have glass doors that have been broken or cracked, it just doesn't look good. You are sort of out of options when it comes to an actual repair. You will have to repair the parts and this might seem a little difficult, but it isn't. The first place you should look for the parts is right from the manufacturer of the television stand. Typically you can purchase parts for the stand at the cheapest price. The good part about going down this avenue is that you're going to get the exact size for things. There will be no measuring or cutting anything. If you can't get it from the manufacturer than you're going to have to look at some sort of local glass company. You have to make sure that you have an exact measurement of what you're looking for if you go this route. You will also want to hold onto the hardware that helps to hold the glass in place. Scratches Surprisingly repairing scratches doesn't really have the be that difficult. A lot of people think that they can use some sort of varnish or stain on the wood and it will fix it. I'm sorry, it won't. Varnish is designed to be absorbed by the wood and will not fill in the space of a the scratch, so completely avoid that line of thinking. I have a cheap repair tactic that you can use for this. All you need is some clear nail polish. This liquid will help fill in the actual scratched area, and since it is clear it will reflect out the original look. It basically makes the stand look like new. If the scratch is on the deeper side than you'll have to use a wax stick. You can purchase this at any hardwood store and it is specifically designed for patching any sort of wood furniture. |
