I thought that I should talk to you about the various stands that are available for you to use for holding up your television. Sure, you can get some stands that are just designed to hold up a television and nothing else, but there are a lot today that you can use for many different things in many different styles. I'm going to introduce you to all of them.

Glass Drawers

This is the type of stand that has glass doors on the front of it and the television rests directly on top of it. The point of the glass is that you can put your DVD player or digital cable box inside on the shelf and still be able to use it with the remote control. It's really just an easy way to hide the actual components of television without actually having them sit out in the open.

You can use the rest of the drawers for other things. You can store your movie collection, and put in magazines. It's pretty good for a living room because you usually want a place to store things.

Simple Two Shelves

This type is actually quite a simple approach for a television stand. Basically the television rests on top of the stand and you basically have two shelves for two items. This means that you can put your DVD player and your satellite receiver on each of the shelves.

It's a very simplistic approach. There is no room for storage of movies or anything like that. If you want to think about it, it's just a minimalist looking stand and there is nothing wrong with that. I actually prefer stands like that because there is nothing distracting about it.

Wide Two Shelves

This is just the same as the simple two shelves, except it's a lot wider. I'm personally not a fan of this because I think there is too much shelf room and I think it looks sort of sloppy to fill it up with movies and things of this nature.

But with all that said, people tend to like it. You're going to have room for a lot more things, so you can have your DVD player, digital cable box, video game system, VCR, etc all hooked up on one shelf. The other shelf you can put movies, magazines and whatever else you want on them.

Hutch Like Stand

Sometimes you see television stands like this in hotels. Basically it is a tall cupboard (if you want to think of it like that) and the TV sits inside of it. When you want to watch you can open up the front doors and slide them out of the way.

Personally, I'm not a fan of this type of stand, but I know there are a lot of people out there that like to hide their television when it isn't in use. This type of stand has a lot of storage, so I would imagine if you have a lot of stuff lying around that you typically associate with the living room, this would be the type of stand to go with.
